Pen Island

Sunday, June 6th, 2010

Since this comic has gone up, a few have noted that "Kiss That Frog" is also an ode to Peter Gabriel's -ahem- undercarriage. Of course, this practice is common nowadays among gangsta rappers, which makes Gabriel a sort of precursory figure. I'm expecting Nelly to start dressing like a daffodil any day now.

Book Two

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Over the the Memorial Day weekend, this comic hit a milestone 200 Non-Adventures! That means a new book! Everything between the last book up to the Jesus rap battle (and some additional easter eggery) will be contained in the Non-Adventures of Wonderella: Volume Two, "Whatever I Call It". It'll be out in the late summer, so watch for it wherever that book is sold.

Storms A’plenty

Friday, June 18th, 2010

Hey gang - it's Friday evening and the sky's turning that sickly yellow color that means severe storms, tornadoes, power outages and other such funnery. If the comic isn't out the gate by the crack of dawn, it's because the weather simply isn't permitting and will be up on Saturday when I am able. -JP

Enclosed is one Art by Kel McDonald of Sorcery 101! You can check it out in the gallery thingummy!

Turns out that insidious-looking storm went away right after I posted about it last night, so the comic went out without a hitch. Who knew? (hint: not me.)

Shagerella

Wonderella's "paper cut-out" look borrows a little from the 60s hipster-mod art style, and so does the artist Josh Agle (aka "Shag"), so I attempted my version of his version of Wonderella. Unfortunately, Shag's women uniformly tend to lack expression, so there's not a lot I could do with this. Still, neat as a one-piece.
