The ships originally descended upon the Congo as a continued riff on the old "aliens prefer major developed cities" chestnut, as the Congo's wealth of natural resources makes it a great target for an intergalactic smash-and-grab. But then I decided A) the Congolese have enough problems without me dropping a Mandrux fleet in their backyard, and B) penguins.
I've wanted to make this comic since Wonderella's early days but took a pass, since it felt like a joke Family Guy might have already flopped out of its rapid-fire reference-hole -- but five years later I decided I still really wanted to make it, so what the hell.
